For the Final Project, I try to create a pavilion with its surface patterns controlled by insulation analysis data of different locations.
1. Create Basic Form with Kangaroo
I simply drag some of the anchor points to make the form more interesting.
2. Use Ecotect for Insulation Analysis
I export the mesh to Ecotect,and get the analysis data back to grasshopper. Then show the result on rhino interface with mesh colors.
3. Use Ecotect for Sun Path & Sun Rays Analysis
This part is almost the same with insulation analysis, except I get to control the date and hours of the analysis.
4. Remap the Data and Find the Corner Points of Each Faces on the Mesh
I use remap to make all the radiation data from 0 to 1. And put all the corner points for each faces on the mesh into different groups.
5. Use 'Recursive Squares' for the Surface Pattern
6. Use 'Mouth' for the Surface Pattern
7. Conclusion
This may be not quite useful yet in real world architectural design, but it is an interesting experiment. Hope it would contribute to professional practices with more analysis and research.
